This bridge built in 1932 is 105 ft. in length.
Control of this bridge changed hands over the years.
First from Linn County to the
Highway Commission when the road was designated a state
highway. In 1963 the
bridge was bypassed and control went back to Linn
County. Presently its under the
control of the Linn County Parks and Recreation Department.
The bridge went through a period in the 1970's and 1980's when its
maintenance
and repair were sporadic.
Openings in the sides of the bridge allow for views of the
Calapooia River which passes beneath.
----------
In 1996 the bridge was severely damaged in a flood. Linn County
received
a grant from the Oregon Covered Bridge Program to repair the damage.
A park located next to bridge makes a pleasant place for a stop.
In early August the Crawfordsville Community Association
host the Annual Crawfordsville Bridge Day & Homecoming.
This is a downstream view of the bridge. It is located at
the west end
of Crawfordsville and sits beside Highway 228.
Because of the numerous
trees it might be easy to miss.
