The Currin Covered Bridge, build in 1925 was named after a
pioneer family.
It replaced another bridge at this site build in 1883. The
current bridge
was build by Lane County employees, after bids for replacemen were
considered
too high and was built at less cost.
Some architurectural features were added to the bridge including the
fact that
the bridge has white portals and red sides.
The bride was mothballed in 1987 and Lane County received grant during
1993 - 1995 Covered Bridge Program. That rehabilited the
bridge
and opened it to pedestrian traffic. It crosses the Row
River.
The bridge is located about 4 miles southeast of Cottage Grove on
Row River Road with insection to Laying Rd. Another covered
bridge,
the Mosby Creek Bridge is located about one mile from this bridge.
