Dorena Covered Bridge constructed in 1949 is 105 ft in length.
After Dorena Dam was completed in 1946, plans were made to span
Row River when the road along the west bank of Dorena Lake was
completed. The bridge was often referred to as the "Star
Bridge" as it
provided access to the Star Ranch a large estate at the time.

---------------------
The bridge was bypassed by a concrete span in 1974. Repairs
were made
to the structure in 1987 under Lane County 's 'mothball' plan for
covered
bridges. Lane County requested and received grans
from the Oregon Covered
Bridge program in 1996. These funds were used to create a
wayside park in
addition to repairs and rehabilition to the bridge. Part of
that work included adding
side windows (as seen in photo below) for light and improved air flow.
To reach Dorena Bridge from Cottage Grove travel 5 miles east on
Row River Road to the junction of Government Road. Then
continue
east on Government Road about 7 miles to the bridge.
