North of Florence is Sutton Lake and the Sutton Lake Recreation
Area. By following Sutton Creek Rd to the end you will
come to the Holman Vista. From this view point one can see the
foredunes and Sutton Creek which empties into the Pacific Ocean. North
along the beach area is where the sea grass and foredunes were removed
and leveled to improve the Plouver habitat. They are the small
shore birds you see running along the surf and that move back and forth
as the waves come in. In the first picture below you are looking
north.
In the next picture you are looking South as Sutton Creek continues
on it way to the ocean. It goes thru a break in the dunes.
The winds along the Oregon coast blow predominately from
the ocean. These winds over a period of time can affect the
shape and growth of trees.
