The Shimanek Covered Bridge built in 1966 is actually the 5th covered bridge at this location.
The previous bridges were damaged or destroyed by flood waters or falling trees. In addition to being
a closed-in bridge it is red in color.
Shimanek Bridge is located on Richardson Gap Road.
Thomas Creek flows below the bridge.
